<image:title>Home - Dedicated to Change.</image:title>
<image:caption>The first free, tax payer-funded school in the United States was founded in Dorchester, Massachusetts in 1639. Since then, the population of students served by American schools has diversified immensely; however, the practices by which we serve them have not. Every school houses students with needs that extend beyond those typically provided in the general education classroom. As an advocate for those children, I have answered the call to help bridge the gap in the cultural knowledge, understanding, and practices that many schools traditionally face. The time for change is now. Click below to find motivation and renewed vigor in the successes we’ve seen so far.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Vision - Culture matters. Teaching works.</image:title>
<image:caption>The purpose of our work is to re-establish caring, compassionate relationships through racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity training. The goal of our work is to empower leaders to shape the culture of their organization through Connection, Community, and Compassion. Historically, the values of White-dominant culture in America have been founded upon individualism, competition, and high performance as a means of determining one’s value to society. Conversely cultures of color draw their strength from the values of collectivism, harmony, and identity, who one is as opposed to how one performs, as a means of determining one’s value to society. These opposing value systems have bred separation between White cultures and cultures of color in the United States and continue to breed separation in the fabric of our nation. Remington Holt Consulting seeks to repair that fabric through tedious, intentional, and practical work around Racial and Cultural identity in America. We work with majority White-dominant organization leaders to help them establish a strong understanding of White culture and how it has impacted their own identity, as well as the identity of their organization, with the ultimate goal of preparing the organizations to become more culturally responsive and compassionate toward diverse staff, clients, and community partners. Culture is learned and thereby, can be un-learned and reshaped to meet the needs of people. We welcome you along on our journey to create a more cohesive, compassionate, and inclusive America. In fact, we can’t do it without you. Sincerely, — Remington Holt Founder & CEO, Remington Holt Consulting</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Story - Hi, my name is</image:title>
<image:caption>Remington Holt. I was born and raised in Jackson, Tennessee and moved to Nashville in 2007 to attend Vanderbilt University, where I double majored in Elementary Education and Child Development with a minor in Organizational Leadership. I obtained my Masters Degree in Special Education from Lipscomb University. My love for education was born out of my first job on Vanderbilt's campus at a preschool for students with developmental disabilities. After 12 years of providing direct services to students in the field of Education, I now aspires to close the culture gap in education through high-quality instruction, culturally responsive pedagogy, and by educating teachers and school leaders about the importance of cultural responsiveness both inside and outside of the classroom. I bring a distinct talent to school leadership through my diverse background in all 3 educational sectors: Private, Traditional Public, and Charter Public schools. My passion is teaching; my desire is school improvement; and my goal is to change the heart of America to one of love, understanding, connection, and inclusion for all. When I’m not doing this work, I’m usually singing, spending time with the Lord and people I love, eating pizza, or hanging out at the mall. I love clothes, fashion, style, colors, all of it. I’m also really passionate about video games. I’m a semi-professional gamer, and I travel the country to do that in my spare time as well. Learn more about how I can help your school by viewing our Annual Report below.</image:caption>

<image:title>Racial immersion Experience - Module 1: A Tale of Two Cultures</image:title>
<image:caption>Module One asks participants to consider that the world they have been living in is white, and that if one is white, they are not able to fully talk about race until they unpack and understand the inherent bias that "living white" creates. Before we can act antiracist, we must first learn by immersing ourselves in our own bias. This module helps to lay the groundwork for the hard personal work ahead.</image:caption>

<image:title>Racial immersion Experience - Module 2: Relationships</image:title>
<image:caption>Module Two asks participants to examine their shadow in relation to race. Now that you are aware of whiteness as a concept, how has it unconsciously shaped who you are, how you see the world, and the relationship with yourself and others? How are you wrong, and can you admit it and move through shame, pain and hurt in service of justice?</image:caption>

<image:title>Racial immersion Experience - Module 3: Changing Our Systems</image:title>
<image:caption>Module Three asks participants to consider the "So What" of this work. How can we apply this personal transformation into systemic action? How is our school really doing, and where do we need to change in order to be antiracist? Module three also includes an opportunity to realistically assess progress, areas for growth, and set goals for the next 12-18 months.</image:caption>

<image:title>How can we help? - “In the months before Remington and I met, I had been examining my own attitudes about race. In his and my discussions, there were constant reminders to keep looking at race and racism in new ways, and to continually question assignments and lessons in order to be sure that, as a teacher, I was celebrating differences and always being aware of not reverting to former attitudes.”</image:title>

<image:title>How can we help? - “Remington Holt is one of the most dedicated educators when it comes to the process of grounding school systems, structures, and pedagogy in restorative and humanizing practices. His understanding of cultural asset-based pedagogy, funds of knowledge, and community and cultural wealth is on par with experts in the field. Remington is a gifted educator who has a keen eye for equity and justice-based school practices.”</image:title>

<image:title>How can we help? - “I think more than anything I valued having the conversation about Whiteness with Remington. I didn't face many issues in my class....maybe it's the curriculum or maybe it's my students....but I did appreciate having the honest conversation with Remington. I wanted him to feel like his voice was valued.....and I felt he appreciated having those conversations with me as well.”</image:title>

<image:title>Racial Immersion Experience (Copy) - Module 1: A Tale of Two Cultures</image:title>

<image:title>Racial Immersion Experience (Copy) - Module 2: Relationships</image:title>

<image:title>Racial Immersion Experience (Copy) - Module 3: Changing Our Systems</image:title>

<image:caption>After 5 years in the classroom and over 10 years in Education overall, I now aspires to close the culture gap in education through high-quality instruction, culturally responsive pedagogy, and by educating teachers and school leaders about the importance of cultural responsiveness both in and out of the classroom. I believe I bring a distinct talent to school leadership through my diverse background in all 3 educational sectors: Private, Traditional Public, and Charter Public schools. My passion is teaching; my desire is school improvement; and my goal is to change the heart of America to one of love, understanding, connection, and inclusion for all.</image:caption>
